Every window has a story. These case studies share a little more about the kind of work we do, the challenges we’ve solved, and the care we take to make sure every job is just right.

Cookham High Street

We were approached to see if we could replace eight pairs of casement windows in the property with wooden sliding sash windows, to match the originals, as shown in early photographs.

At the initial survey, we discovered that the original box sash frames were still in place, and that the casements had been built into them. We carried out a detailed survey, including finding another property on the street that still retained its original sashes, so we could copy the horn pattern exactly.

We then constructed bespoke replica double-glazed sliding wooden sashes. Once ready, we carefully removed the wooden casement inserts and replaced them with our new sashes.

This included:

Reinstating the pulley wheels, which had been previously removed

Repairing any damage to the boxes (previously hidden by the casements)

Fitting the new sashes into the original frames

The end result transformed the building back to its original beauty, while giving our client a thermally efficient, quiet, insulated, and safe set of double-glazed wooden sliding sashes to enjoy.

The Crooked House - “Market Cross House”, Windsor

Originally built in 1592, this iconic building was demolished in 1687 to make room for the Guildhall. After local protests, it was quickly rebuilt using inferior green timbers, which caused the famous lean.

We were approached when the middle sash window in the first-floor bay had fallen apart, with the glass falling out. The owners couldn’t find anyone willing to take on the work, as it’s both a listed building and a building of historical interest.

The sash had to be 100% replicated—including its leaned angle—but also needed to be fully operational, and an exact colour match.

We carried out a very detailed survey, with our joiner coming on-site to assess the best way to achieve the replacement. We built an oversized bespoke replica, which was then planed down to size on-site, carefully matching the exact angleof the original.

The window was fitted and finished in a day, and all agencies involved were very happy with the final result.

Marlow

We were asked to remove single glazed sashes and replace them with double-glazed bespoke wooden sliding sashes, using the existing original frames.

This Victorian house now has beautifully made bespoke double-glazed sash windows. Following an extensive survey, we:

Reinstated the original sash boxes

Installed new lead weights

Crafted and fitted new windows that restored the building’s original charm

Replacement double glazed pine sashes– Maidenhead

This project was to replace single glazed sashes in its original colour, with an exact bespoke wooden sliding sash to match the original . We also carefully matched the aged colour of the existing timber. A detailed job but done with all the same care and precision.

The Clients review

We asked David to replace our sitting room original Victorian sash windows. He made new frames copying the original carved wood features and replaced the freezing cold single glass panes.

Casement Leaf Replacement

We had previously completed repair work on this property by replacing the rotten sills on several timber casement windows.

The client then asked us to return and remove the existing single-glazed casement leaves on the side of the property—which were failing and insecure—and replace them with double-glazed versions to match the front of the house.

Installed them just in time for a big party the client was hosting
